After a head-on collision that left blood on his shirt, Antonio Rudiger "needs 20 stitches" and "will be examined for a fracture," but the Real Madrid star's goal offers Celtic hope of qualifying for the Europa League after losing in the Champions League.
Real Madrid tied the score in stoppage time of their game in Warsaw against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Rudiger was penalized by having blood on his shirt as a result of heading in a cross from the left.
Following his head-on collision with Shakhtar goalie Anatolii Trubin, Rudiger reportedly required 20 stitches and would be examined for any fractures.
However, the outcome helps Celtic in their quest to place third in their group and go to the Europa League semifinals.
With Celtic hosting Shakhtar on October 25, the Scottish champions sit four points behind Shakhtar in third place.
However, for that to happen, Celtic would need to win that game, hope Shakhtar loses to Leipzig in gameweek six, and then secure a result against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
